Comedian Avery Schreiber Dies at 66

I worked with Avery about 10 years ago at the Jupiter Theater in Florida, where he was Artistic Director. I was in a production of Show Boat with him where he was Capt. Andy and I was 4th chorus boy on the right. There is no denying that he was out of control on the stage, but the audiences really ate it up. Obits are very factual, and don't really contain the important information. Isn't it interesting that the people who write obits do not really know who they are writing about? If I wrote Avery's obit, here's what I would mention. I felt that Avery was always about what he could give to anyone: laughter to the audience, knowledge and technique to his students, and his personal generousity to me and many others. He will be sorely missed.
