January 6, 2002 -- Ryan Driscoll, who stars as Hermie in "Summer of '42" at the Variety Arts Theater, is the only 18-year-old carrying a musical in New York.
Yes, Ryan is very talented and we hope to see lots of him in the future. But carrying the musical may be generous on a few fronts. 'Summer' stands on itself and the fact that he is 18 is not remarkable, especially in light of Laura Benanti really carrying Sound of Music a few seasons ago, on Broadway with much higher stakes, nonetheless.
