On this day in 1914 The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, known as ASCAP, was founded in New York City. Today's birthdays include: Kim Novak, George Segal, Stockard Channing, Mena Suvari and Giovanni Battista Piazzetta.

One year ago today, producer Doug Mayo from Australia, now living in London, ripped off the entire cast, creative team and crew of Sweeney Todd on the West End by walking away with the entire box office and not paying anyone. This production was to benefit Crusaid, which is an organization like Broadway Cares. Crusaid received no money from Doug Mayo.
