Blind email received:

The Riedel piece today is woefully misinformed. The Broadway option agreement on FLOWER DRUM SONG (already in place for the Taper and their commercial partners) expressly states that the production is forbidden to open in the same season as OKLAHOMA. The R&H Org. did NOT want to put these shows up against each other. The option states that the production must not open before the 2002 Tony cut-off. And the production is not looking for a large theatre.
Hmmmm....

Well, aren't we busy little beavers today...

An accident occurred to the Manhattan skyline set piece of Sweet Smell of Success at the Shubert Theatre, Chicago. It seems that someone forgot to cap the end of the pipe which the set was hanging on and it slid right off and plummeted to the stage floor. No one was injured and the damages have yet to be assessed but it doesn't look good.

My favorite email of the day:

Today, on the radio, I heard the advertisement for this site. I wanted to know about gift certificates that can be purchased for Broadway shows? Can you just buy a generic gift certificate or do you have to buy a specific broadway show gift certificate?
I had to laugh... I think this writer means Broadway.com.

APT. RENTS PLUMMET by LOIS WEISS

Santa Claus is coming early for apartment hunters. With fewer corporations bringing in recruits, and jittery young execs moving back in with Mama, there's not only more elbow room in Manhattan - it's become a lot cheaper.
Define "Plummet". From $3000 to $2750 for a 1 Bedroom walkup with no doorman?

Single-ticket sales for the Disney musical began Nov. 25 and in that first day generated sales of 25,377 tickets for a total of $1.48 million, a record for Denver Center Attractions.
