My mother, Olive Braman, who has died aged 82, was always strong-willed and impatient. Even on her deathbed, she sent people away, saying "boring" " only half joking. After my father, Geoffrey Braman, proposed in 1968, she told him that he ought to marry her quickly before she changed her mind (she was actually engaged to somebody else at the time).
