Carrie Underwood-Led SOUND OF MUSIC to Premiere on NBC 12/5 by TV News Desk

Country music icon and AMERICAN IDOL star Carrie Underwood will portray the role of Maria von Trapp in NBC's upcoming live holiday broadcast of The Sound of Music. The network announced today that the film, executive produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, will premiere on Thursday, December 5, 2013.
