Review: Deirdre of the Sorrows (City Lit Theater)
Forbidden love, war and deception are all present in the story of playwright John Millington Synge's Deiredre of the Sorrows (which hasn't been professionally produced in Chicago in a century), but it's hard to tell under the labored dialects and plodding script. Sometimes plays stay buried for a reason, and it's time for Deirdre to return to the vault. (review by Lauren Whalen)
