The wages of war in 'Macbeth' by James Hebert

The tragedy of "Macbeth" begins with the witches " those three "weird sisters" whose utterances foretell (or do they compel?) the title character's murderous rise to power. And any production of "the Scottish play," says director Brian Kulick, likewise has to begin with a clear idea of what the witches represent.
