Stage preview: 'Sound of Music' is heard again in new touring production by Sharon Eberson / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"The Sound of Music" is among musical theater lovers' favorite things. Now more than 50 years strong, the movie version attracts sing-along screenings, putting it in a rarefied fandom group with "Grease" and "West Side Story." When we look back on the spate of live television musicals, we will recall that NBC chose "The Sound of Music" to launch the trend.
