Omar Sharif, Film Actor Known for Sprawling Epics and "Funny Girl," Dies at 83 by Robert Simonson

Omar Sharif, the suave, handsome Egyptian-born film actor who soared to stardom in the 1960s as leading man of such sweeping cinematic epics as "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Doctor Zhivago," died June 10 in Egypt. He was 82.
