Why the Chicago heat wave of 1995 needs a 20-year remembrance by Chris Jones

In 1995, Doug Zook was a business agent for Local 1 of the Service Employees International Union. Many of the employees at Chicago cemeteries were represented by that union, including Homewood Memorial Gardens, which held the contract with Cook County for the burial of indigent persons.
