Updated: Mike Nichols, Visionary Director of Stage and Screen, Dead at 83 by Robert Simonson

Mike Nichols, who first as a performer, and then as a successful director of stage and film, cast a long shadow over Broadway and Hollywood for more than 50 years, died Nov. 19. The cause was cardiac arrest. He was 83.
