'Apples From the Desert' - relevant in today's Israel
Israeli author and playwright Savyon Liebrecht has long used her pen to amplify women's voices - wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, lovers and friends. Though Liebrecht began writing as a teenager, she didn't publish her first piece, a short story, until she was 35. That story, "Apples From the Desert," captured the stultifying effects of a patriarchal society on a mother and her daughter.
