Obituary: Geoffrey Hughes by The Stage

Usually cast as a lovable rogue, Geoffrey Hughes spent ten years providing much of the comedy in Coronation Street as Eddie Yates, an ex-convict who was constantly embarking on schemes to get rich quick. He then spent six years playing the slobbish Onslow, frequently irritating Patricia Routledge's social climber, Hyacinth Bucket, in Keeping Up Appearances.
