Obituary: Douglas Darnell by The Stage

Many of the spectacular gowns worn by Shirley Bassey, Joan Collins, Dusty Springfield, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Diana Dors were the work of the couturier Douglas Darnell, the man behind Darnell of London. If any of these divas required a feathery and bejewelled concoction, he was the first man to whom they turned.
