Obituary: Rita Gorr by The Stage

Mezzo-soprano Rita Gorr was a formidable presence on the Covent Garden stage of the Royal Opera House for more than a decade, making her debut as Amneris in Verdi's Aida in the house in 1959, and taking her leave of it in 1971.
