Meet the Super-Parents: Kevin Costner to Play Clark Kent's Dad by Dave Itzkoff

The character of Jonathan Kent has been something of a tragic figure in Superman's life, having died of a heart attack in Richard Donner's 1978 "Superman" film, in the CW television series "Smallville" and the recent Superman comics.
