Broadway Needs Harmony Over Orchestras by Joseph Dolman
People don't come to Broadway to see efficiency. Broadway shows are already an economic anachronism. Why retail a show to a few hundred people a night when you can make one compact disc and reach millions of paying customers instantly? The reason: People are willing to pay big bucks to witness the magic of creation. If Broadway's producers forget that, they will wreck an important local industry.
