It all sounded so promising: the very talented Henry Goodman in a play by Timberlake Wertenbaker about the French impressionist painter Edward Degas. But it seems that even in the hands of Henry Goodman, Edgar Degas was a dry old stick and there's a limit to the number of times one play can feature a scene where Degas expresses annoyance at his wilder pupil Suzanne Valadon.
