Lynn Nottage's beautiful, hideous and unpretentiously important play that opened last night at Manhattan Theatre Club was inspired by interviews the playwright conducted in Africa with Congo refugees, Nottage and director Kate Whoriskey have created a shattering, intimate journey into faraway news reports about tribal horrors fueled by high-tech exploitation of mineral rights.
