Slickly entertaining, "Play It Cool" is stuffed with some 20 solid songs replicating the sound and sass of jazz-infused pop from the 1940s and early '50s, from moody ballads to bebop syncopation. Unfortunately, the book doesn't match the score's infectious pace.
