Review of "Gypsy" by Michael Portantiere
It's an ironic tribute to Laurents the writer - and to Styne, Sondheim, and Robbins - that the work of Laurents the director cannot completely mask the greatness of <em>Gypsy.</em> But one can't help wonder how much better this production might have been with someone else at the helm.
