Worcester theatrical treasure restored By Terry Byrne
When Broadway star Bernadette Peters steps onstage tonight to sing for the grand opening of Worcester's Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts, Edward P. Madaus and Paul J. Demoga will breathe a sigh of satisfaction. The two Worcester natives and longtime friends have been the catalysts for the $31 million renovation and restoration of the 82-year-old theater, long considered a white elephant in downtown Worcester.
