Director Lear deBessonet employs galley staging, along with commentary by Mississippi blues artist Kelly McRae and combo, to make Brecht's mixture of political evangelism and grotesque fable pop. Nothing in this Saint Joan of the Stockyards could be remotely confused with television -- and how refreshing that is.
