In 1979, during a protest in Greensboro, North Carolina, the KKK and the American Nazi Party shot and killed five demonstrators in what has since become known as the Greensboro Massacre. Composer César James Alvarez was named after two people who were killed, a tribute from his parents to their deceased friends.
