"Streep Dazzles as Mother Courage in Central Park," by John Simon
The three-hour production that opened last night at the Delacorte Theater in New York's Central Park ends up making every character look equally bad. But Meryl Streep in the title part looks so good that she alone would be worth the price of admission -- that is, if the free Public Theater drama had one.
