Calamity at the apex, but hardly explosive BY LAURA WEINERT

Placing the country's deadliest volcanic eruption at the climax of a stage production is a gutsy choice. Gordon Cox's "Phenomenon" strews affable, underdeveloped characters and partially explored themes across the stage in a display short of awesome, unlike its subject.
