Faded 'Roses' Of Days Gone By By Peter Marks

Judith Ivey and Bill Pullman circle each other like a pair of wary, caged animals in "The Subject Was Roses," but even the charisma and technical prowess of two fine actors are not adequate to the task of fully invigorating a gray domestic drama with a tired tale to tell.
