Unlike the musicals "Rent" (an update on Puccini's "La Boheme"), and "Miss Saigon' (inspired by Puccini's "Madame Butterfly") both of which had all new music by other composers for their contemporary stories, "Carmen Jones" uses the original Bizet score.
