The producers of Mary Zimmerman's aquatic drama, based on the myths of Ovid, had wanted to keep their production running, but owners of the Circle in the Square invoked the stop clause. The Broadway musical "Dance of the Vampires" will close at the Minskoff Theater on Jan. 25. Credit some of the harshest reviews in years for putting a stake through the ill-starred tuner's heart. The show inspired epithets along the lines of "Count Dreckula," "Bloody Bad Show" and "Dead on Arrival" -- and those were just the headlines.
On a different note, at Lauren Kennedy's concert at Ars Nova tonight, she revealed that Georgia Stitt and Jason Robert Brown are engaged. I could say something corny about them making beautiful music, but I won't.... Congrats to both of them.
