'Chicago' Director Wins Directors Guild Award by Arthur Spiegelman

First-time director Rob Marshall won the Director's Guild feature film directing award on Saturday for his musical "Chicago," making him the favorite in the battle for Oscar gold later this month.
Marshall thanked the star-studded cast of the Miramax musical as well as the directors of Hollywood's almost lost tradition of musicals including Robert Wise ("West Side Story") and Vincente Minnelli ("Gigi") and the Broadway choreographer of the original "Chicago," Bob Fosse.
"I stand here because of them," Marshall said.
