Stage review: Dazzling musical honors real-life 'Scottsboro Boys' by Sharon Eberson / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A white man insists that nine black men perform a song about his sweet home Alabama. You know the one, he tells them. It's the one he loved hearing as it rose above the cotton fields. "And where are those smiles?" he demands. They comply, and with toothy grins they sing about "lovable Southern days ... Daddy hangin' from a tree ... "
