Idina Menzel was in excellent form for the start of the Civic run (one of only seven cities in which she is reprising her Broadway role). And "If/Then" offers plenty of opportunity to see and hear her, because this is a show that, for all the gifts of the star and her cast mates, sticks around quite a bit longer than it needs to.
