Union Theatre, London: Presented as part of a Howard Goodall season, Love Story is based on the popular novel and subsequent 1970 movie by Erich Segal. At its peak a byword for sentimental melodrama, Love Story's recent transition to the musical stage is less hampered by this emotional baggage than by Stephen Clark's woefully underdeveloped book.
