The historical drama is based on a press conference in which heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali introduces his "secret strategy man," the former Hollywood comedic actor Stepin Fetchit, née Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry. This occurred in 1965 during the Civil Rights Movement.
