Hudes' 'Elliot Trilogy' winds up at home

NEW YORK - Something more than an amiable, intermittently earnest play is waiting to emerge from Quiara Alegria Hudes' The Happiest Song Plays Last, the completion of her "Elliot Trilogy" and her follow-up to the Pulitzer Prize-winning Water by the Spoonful, which just ended a run at the Arden. But at the moment, it rides on homey, atmospheric elements familiar from August Wilson's plays.
