When Cirque du Soleil opened Amaluna in Montreal this past April, I cheered it wildly for uniting the usual Cirque materials around the script of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, infusing the whole thing with a joyous female energy and promised that it would “send your spirit soaring and bring your heart to places it’s never been before.”
