Cue the 2012 Tony Awards, and a stripped-down Broadway season
With the Tony Awards ceremony June 10, it's a good time to look at the 2011-12 Broadway season. It was marked not only by celebrity turns and musical knockoffs, but by a trend toward more shows with a stripped-down aesthetic, relying on compelling stories, infectious music and ensemble acting, writes Seattle Times theater critic Misha Berson.
