A Deadly Night in the Boxing Ring Is Grist for an Evening at the Opera by Daniel J. Wakin

Opera Theater of St. Louis and Jazz Theater of St. Louis have commissioned an opera by Terence Blanchard based on the life of the boxer Emile Griffith, whose battering of Benny Paret in 1962 resulted in Paret's death.
