The hoops-themed Broadway bio "Magic/Bird" doesn't technically foul out, but it's not exactly a winner either. Ironically, Eric Simonson's by-the-numbers and stiffly acted account of the on- and off-court relationship of National Basketball Association superstars Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Larry Bird makes both great athletes look smaller than life.
