Dance review: The National Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty by Special To National Post

When staging Beauty for The National Ballet of Canada in 1972, the late Rudolf Nureyev drew on his classical Russian roots. He demanded absolute perfection from the dancers and rehearsed them day into night. The results proved stunning, and the work thrust the company onto the international map, launching the careers of Canadian dancers such as Karen Kain and Frank Augustyn.
