Rarely Produced Short Eyes Invites Danger and Innovation
Julian Acosta first read Short Eyes as an undergraduate, directing a scene from it in class, but he had to recruit staff members to act in it because his fellow students refused to tackle the roles of an imprisoned sex offender and the harder-core criminals around him.
