Even ardent fans of the tragic star of "Gone With the Wind" or the maker of "Citizen Kane" will be hard-pressed to derive much enjoyment from Austin Pendleton's dreary play, which really is a lot of backstage bosh and not likely to linger long at the Barrow Street Theatre.
