I am on my way to watch a rehearsal for The Joffrey Ballet's "The Nutcracker," as part of my preparation to talk to Duryea, a company dancer. I had met Olivia nearly a decade prior when she first arrived at The Joffrey Ballet. At the time, I was a fledgling dancer, and Olivia, some years my senior, was on the precipice of beginning a full artistic career.
