Joan Didion's memoir of grief, 'The Year of Magical Thinking,' takes to the stage at ACT Theatre by Misha Berson

In 2003, Didion lost her husband and sometime literary collaborator John Gregory Dunne and witnessed the sudden, catastrophic illness of their only child. Emerging from that experience, Didion forged "The Year of Magical Thinking," a potent 2005 memoir that she later turned into a play.
