Since Pope Francis, seemingly a warm, likable man, began his papacy with a little self-deprecating joke about how the cardinals had to look "to the ends of the Earth" to find the new Bishop of Rome, it's reasonable to assume that the first non-European to lead the Roman Catholic Church in more than 1,200 years has a decent sense of humor. He'll need it.
