1918 Actor-manager Henry Miller opens his theatre in New York City. It's designed to seat 1,000 spectators and capable of handling the latest staging innovations. This will ring true well into the future as the theatre is transformed into the Kit Kat Klub for the revival of Cabaret in 1998 and Urinetown in 2001.
