IF all great theatre begins as a risk, then this surely qualifies: a Chinese play about a rhinoceros feeder who falls in love with a neighbour, herself in love with another, and proceeds to kidnap her. But when Rhinoceros in Love was first produced in Beijing in 1999, it became the country's most successful modern stage drama.
