[ NYP ]  'TABOO' DEBUT by ALISHA BERGER and BILL HOFFMANN

Boy George has turned into something of pit-bull press agent, slamming anybody who criticizes the show - including The Post's Michael Riedel, who was banned from last night's premiere.
Said Riedel, "Fine. I'll cover the closing next week."

[ SUN ]  It Came from the Eighties by JEREMY McCARTER
"Taboo" did not open last night as much as it burst, then oozed all over its audience. The musical whisks us back to early-1980s London, the New Romantic period, when if you didn't show up at the club wearing at least six colors and three textures, you weren't even trying. That's just the makeup.

[ ND ]  Broadway Review: Taboo by Linda Winer
"Taboo" is not -- we repeat not -- the train wreck that Broadway's flop- collectors were promised by advance word. In fact, much of George's score -- plenty of new songs plus "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Karma Chameleon" -- has the sensitively outrageous lyrics and bouncy sweetness of his iconic hits. Compared with the flabby music in the fall's other big commercial shows, "The Boy From Oz" and "Wicked," this one is good pop art.
