Reviews - "Book of Days": [ NYT ] THEATER REVIEW | 'BOOK OF DAYS' Small Town's Big Cheese Dies, So a Saint Goes Riding In by BEN BRANTLEY As part of its Lanford Wilson celebration, the Signature Theater Company presents a solid cast in this often sanctimonious indictment of small-town hypocrisy. [ NJ ] Engrossing 'Book of Days' unmasks idyllic town BY MICHAEL SOMMERS A taut, compelling new drama by Lanford Wilson, "Book of Days" starts with an "Our Town"-like invocation of a lovely little Missouri community of today and eventually, excitingly, winds up into one very wicked "Fargo"-like thriller. [ NYP ] LOVE, FILIPINO STYLE by BRIAN SCOTT LIPTON THERE may be no bouquets of flowers or Michel Legrand love songs in "The Romance of Magno Rubio," but this unusual 80-minute fable presented by the Obie-winning Mai Yi Theatre Company has much to say about the world's most delicate emotion. [ TB ] Acts of Providence Review by Matthew Murray [ TB ] The Cherry Orchard Review by Matthew Murray [ TB ] The Three Sisters Review by Matthew Murray Sunday afternoon I got together with much of the BroadwayStars staff to see the final performance of AMOUR. We had our own little Irish wake for the show (or was it a French wake?). You can blame tepid reviews, lousy marketing, lack of star power, the economy, or El Nio - all I can say is, if a show as wonderful as AMOUR can't succeed, I really worry about the state of the industry. Seeing and hearing Melissa Errico sob as she hit her last note (for real - I'm told she'd never done that before) really floored me. I also saw the final Mufti performance of JUMBO, which helped make Sunday one of the most enjoyable days I've spent at the theater in a while.
